Tell us a little bit about your background.  How did you get interested in event planning? How did you get started?

Weddings combine things I have a passion for; relationships, creativity, romance, and organization. I started in the industry after some soul searching about what I really wanted to do, rather than what I felt like I had to do.

How long have you been in the industry?

I have coordinating weddings and events for four years.

What kinds of services do you offer?

Weddings are so specific to each couple, and I like to tailor packages to fit anything that a bride and groom need. With any service, my bottom line is that this is your wedding day, and it should be memorable and perfect. It is my job to make sure that happens.

The two most popular packages are full wedding coordination and day of coordination. Some of what full wedding coordination includes is booking each of the vendors, designing details of the wedding (including the ceremony and reception), creating and managing a couple’s budget, outlining the logistics and set-up of the wedding day, and carrying out all of the “day of” coordinating tasks. Day of coordination includes coordinating the logistics of your wedding day, communicating with your vendors to verify the details as well as their setup arrangements, and putting together a detailed timeline of the couple’s wedding day.

Do you work alone or do you have team?

I design and coordinate weddings alone, but, depending on the size or complexity of the wedding, I always have additional team members there to help carry out the details.

What trends are you seeing in weddings this year?

By far the biggest trend that brides love right now is DIY details. Weather adding vintage details or modern twists, using this creative element adds extra personality to a wedding. Websites such as Pinterest and Style Me Pretty have really made creating these ideas possible for so many.

What advice do you have for brides to make the most of your service(s)?

Whether it is the groom, the future in-laws, siblings, bridesmaids, or her own parents, brides tend to feel pressure to make everyone else happy. This is part of the reason weddings are stressful to so many. Hiring a planner is definitely helpful in lifting some of that pressure. As a wedding planner, I often become someone who can give great advice on how to handle these stresses, and make solutions happen. To make the most of your planning service, always feel comfortable to tell me what stresses or worries you may have about your wedding, and I guarantee, there is always a solution.

Do you travel for weddings?

Of course! Planning weddings in other locations is always fresh and fun!

What is your competitive edge in event planning?

My competitive edge is two-fold. Along with my general service, I always go above and beyond behind the scenes to fix any debacle that may arise. My second edge is that I genuinely believe that it is my responsibility to make each bride’s wedding perfect. Regardless of the wedding size, your budget, or any element, it is your fairy tale day and should be amazing.

Are you a wedding vendor exclusively or do you offer your services for other events?

I do not work exclusively on weddings. I design and coordinate all types of events, from birthday parties to corporate functions. However, I am definitely most seasoned in wedding planning!

What do you do during your time off?

Time off? Am I supposed to have that? I do strike a balance between my work as well as my family / social life. I love doing simple things – taking my toddler on play dates, jogging and being active, hanging out with my husband, and being able to get together with our friends and family.

What’s your favorite part of a wedding?

Aside from getting to see some spectacular wedding décor, my absolute favorite part is listening to each ceremony. It sounds really cheesy, but hearing the couple recite their vows, makes all of the hard work put into planning the wedding so worth it.

If you could participate in a wedding at any venue in the world, where would it be and why?

I don’t know what venue I would even begin to choose, but, if I could have planned any wedding, it would have been Will and Kate’s Royal Wedding. As most would agree, her style is flawless!

What’s the most important thing to consider when booking/selecting your service?

When selecting a wedding planner, make sure your personalities are compatible. You spend so much time with your coordinator, and they are planning the most important day in your life thus far. Make sure you trust and like whoever you choose!
